What's in the garden in May?

May is nearly over now and the warmer weather and showers of rain have brought the whole garden bursting into bloom. There are an abundance of plants flowering now, giving some beautiful displays of colour. Here are a few of our plants that have been giving us some dazzling displays for May.

Clematis - now clambering up the fence, overhanging the garden shed and looping itself on the arbor
Phlox in shades of lilac
Geum - this has been flowering since April and will continue all summer
Colourful border - cystus (broom) in the background, Californian lilac, yellow winter flowering wall flowers (flowering since January), pink carnation, geum
The lupins are just blooming! (winter wallflowers in the background)
white saxifrage
Stunning display of chives flowering in the herb patch - tasty leaves too!
Colourful display of Californian lilac
One of my favourites - aquilega
vivid colour provided by the broom
wallflowers in the barbeque area
stunning display of day lilies by the pond (hemerocallis)
A poppy just bursting into bloom amongst the finishing forget me nots!
